Many plans are marketed as custom but are little more than automated templates with your name attached. Not our training plans.

Why AI-Generated Training Plans Often Fall Short for Trail Runners

AI training plans perform reasonably well in controlled environments: flat roads, predictable schedules, and stable weather. Trail running is the opposite.

AI struggles with:

  • Regional terrain differences (desert, alpine, forest, snow-affected trails)

  • Elevation profiles and vertical distribution

  • Weather volatility and seasonal trail access

  • Long-duration fatigue management

  • Gear, fueling, and pacing decisions that depend on context

Template training plans are typically built around a set of assumptions: predictable terrain, consistent weekly availability, and steady, linear progression. In controlled environments, those assumptions can hold.
