Buyer beware. It's come out that Spring Energy's popular AwesomeSauce energy gel has sham Nutrition Facts information, and contains approximately one third the claimed caloric and carbohydrate values: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ultramarathon/comments/1c27hzh/false_nutritional_info_on_spring_energy_gels/?share_id=1X7N_0FL4K49n7caW3LMD&utm_content=2&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=4 Verified by reputable sources in nutritional lab analysis. If you choose to use this product, know that you'll need at least twice as much of it as the nutrition information would lead you to believe in order to meet in-run calorie needs.

We had 6 Treeline Athletes out for some big events this past weekend, and 2 the weekend before that. The season is here and all that winter work is coming to fruition. If you've raced in the last couple weeks, what have you learned? I know one athlete learned that as great as the Topo Athletic Mountain Racer 3 is as a trail shoe, for 50+ mile efforts a little more padding under-foot is nice to have.

One of our Treeline Athletes has been working with this product the last couple of months. It's Gnarly Nutrition Fuel, and they make carbohydrate drink powders for in-run carb fuel (similar to Tailwind in my understanding). It is a product I have never used before. Does anybody have experience, or pros/cons about this product to share with the rest of us? Or any others of the Gnarly product line?

What are some of the places you're using racing as an excuse to travel to this year? Always looking for good races to add to the list. I'm headed back to Speedgoat in Snowbird, UT this July. Any excuse to get out to Utah's Wasatch Mountains, summer or winter, is worth taking!

What's the thing you like to do that helps you get fit or fast as a runner, but isn't the actual running?

It's probably not THE weirdest, but the first half marathon I ran, they were frying up bacon for the several of the aid stations on course... my stomach isn't tough enough to manage that while running yet.

When I first started running a decade ago, I would have quit or lost interest without the unbelievable support of my friends and teammates that drove me forward. Today, I am on your team, and think we should all be on that team together. We will all get more enjoyment out of the experience of training and competing whe. we have a community to share those experiences with. How did you get into the sport?

I am a member of the #WideFootFam. My feet are too wide for most shoes on the market in the toebox. For years I ran in Altras, but the Zero Drop thing would bother my Achilles when I was doing a lot of uphill training. I switched to Topo Athletic and have loved them, but wish I had other shoe brands to choose from to cycle in. Does anybody know of any I might be missing? Thanks!
